In this version Change Image Background fills a solid colour behind the subject. Replacing the background with an uploaded background image, a gradient, or a pattern is not available here — to drop the background out entirely use Remove Background, then place the subject over your own image. The AI model files download on first use from the model hub (Hugging Face) and are cached by your browser when possible; if the cache is cleared or blocked they may download again. The download size varies by browser and model package.
Change Image Background shows the output dimensions, the chosen colour, the AI model, and the file size in the result panel. Browser canvas export strips EXIF, GPS, and most other source metadata. Animated GIFs are processed as a single still frame; animation is not preserved.
How to use Change Image Background
- Upload your photo into Change Image Background — click, press Enter, or drag it in.
- Wait once while the in-browser AI model loads; your browser caches it for later runs when it is allowed to.
- Choose the colour you want behind the subject — for example white for a profile photo, or a brand colour for a banner.
- Click Process to place the new background behind the detected subject, check the edges, then download the PNG.
