Background Eraser in your browser
Background Eraser lets you erase the background of an image by hand in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Drag the brush over areas to make them transparent, and switch the brush to Restore to paint the original back where you over-erased.
It works with mouse, touch, and stylus. Use Undo to step back, Reset edits to start over, and set the brush size to control the area you paint. Your edits stay on the canvas until you click Process to prepare the PNG download.
Background Eraser exports a PNG with transparency where you erased; the result panel shows the output dimensions and size. Browser canvas export strips EXIF, GPS, and most other source metadata. Animated GIFs are processed as a single still frame; animation is not preserved.
How to use Background Eraser
- Upload your image into Background Eraser — click, press Enter, or drag it in.
- Set the brush size, and leave the brush on Erase (or switch to Restore to bring areas back).
- Drag on the image to erase the background; use Undo or Reset edits as needed.
- Click Process to bake your edits, then download the transparent PNG.

Why does my Background Eraser download look unchanged?
The download is only updated when you click Process. After erasing (or undoing), click Process again to re-bake the PNG, then download.
